It is with both sadness and gratitude that we reflect on the life and legacy of Armin Kurz, who passed away in June 2024. Armin was not only the founder of Armin & Son Landscaping but also a beloved husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend to many. His life was defined by his dedication to serving others, a value he shared in his personal and professional life.
Armin’s journey was rich with experiences and accomplishments. He proudly served in the United States military, an experience that deepened his commitment to hard work, discipline, and integrity—principles he infused into every aspect of his life and business. After his service, Armin pursued a college education in horticulture, bringing both expertise and passion to a career that spanned decades. He found his calling in creating beautiful, sustainable landscapes, a legacy that continues to thrive through the work of his family and Armin & Son Landscaping.
Armin is survived by his loving wife and business partner, Hope Kurz, his sons Eric and Thor Kurz, and his cherished grandchildren. He passed the torch of Armin & Son Landscaping to his son, Thor, who now leads the company with the same dedication and care in the Sun City, Sun City West, and Gilbert communities in Arizona.
Beyond his professional life, Armin was a man who brought joy and wisdom to everyone he encountered. He loved cooking, reading about history, and lightening the mood with his corny jokes, which, to everyone’s delight, he never tired of sharing. His warm personality and sense of humor will be remembered fondly by those who knew him well.
Armin’s life was marked by kindness, generosity, and a willingness to lend a hand. His work and values live on, not only through his family but in the landscapes and communities he helped to cultivate. We are honored to continue his legacy and grateful for the profound impact he had on our lives and the lives of so many.
